Incredibly clever and useful! March 26, 2010 Stratman (Germantown, Maryland United States) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I've used quite a few stage tuners over the years, most recently a pair of Boss TU-2's, excellent tuners in their own right. This tuner beats the Boss units. It offers an incredibly useful but unique feature. Strum your guitar with the strings open and you'll instantly see a curved row of six paired-green dots (plenty bright and easy to see). Any string out of tune will display a pair of red dots immediately below the green ones, thus indicating which if any strings are out of tune. Go to an out-of-tune string and the display immediately changes to an LED-simulated needle display typical of an analog tuner. Tracking is very fast and very accurate. Tuning between songs is a breeze with this thing since you don't have to check each string one at a time; just strum and then tune the strings that need it. When I first got it I did the strum and tune thing and then tested each string with my Peterson VSAM Strobe Tuner as a check - all were spot-on. Add to the speed and accuracy the fact that this is built like a tank and features true bypass, and you've got the best stage tuner available. And with all that, the price is roughly the same as any other good stage tuner. This is one of the best guitar devices out there.
Better than the Boss TU-2 May 27, 2010 Andrew Henderson (United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I like this tuner a LOT. Aside from the polyphonic mode, this is a better stomp tuner than any I've used under $300. Nice and bright and MUCH faster at registering notes than the Boss and Korg.
I think of the poly as an extra feature. Between songs for a quick check, it's perfect for fine tuning. But pull your guitar out of the case and more than a couple of strings are out, I find that it isn't super-accurate. Again, I would give this 5 stars even if it didn't even have the poly mode, so I didn't count against it for that.
Great tuner
Tuning your guitar will never be the same again April 9, 2010 Charles J. Wallace II I purchased the pedal for my brother. After hearing him rave about it. I ordered one for myself. Well what can I say? If you have a guitar with a Floyd, or double locking system, this pedal will change your life. String the guitar, strum, and tune. Lock it all down and rock on. I woudl recommend this to anyone from a beginner to a pro. The unit can even power another pedal if needed. You can tune one string at a time should you wish to do so. Just try it and enjoy it.
Awesome tuner... kind of makes tuning fun May 5, 2010 Matty D (Boston, MA) This is an awesome tuner. The screen is very bright and easy to read, even when I don't have my glasses on. Can't stress enough just how nice the screen looks. It's got a 9V out on it, so if you need to chain another pedal through this one, the option is there. The pedal works in Strobe mode as well as standard (needle-style) chromatic mode. It's very quick and very accurate. It did get a little befuddled at first... I think it thought I had a guitar, but I play bass... but it's adjusted and it will always remember your settings even if left unplugged.
It was just about the same price as the Boss TU-3, which is the 'new' standard pedal tuner... I chose this one for the bright screen, and true bypass. I didn't expect the Polyphonic tuner to work as accurately as it does, but you can definitely strum and get all your strings 100% in tune, and then even check string by string if you want to have the monophonic screen come up.
If you're looking for a rock-solid pedal tuner, this is an excellent choice.
Ya, it works... March 29, 2010 B. Lecky 1 out of 12 found this review helpful
I purchased the PolyTune Poly Chromatic Tuner with the expectation that it would make it easy to determine tuning discrepancies by strumming the guitar. Ya, it works, but I was less than fully impressed when it was tried out on stage. I guess the old adage "if it sounds too good to be true..." applies in this case. Kudos to TC Electronics for trying to make something better though.
