| Customer Reviews: Bad Amazon/Fedex/Schecter Experience March 9, 2010 CavRecon (Seattle, WA USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is being written a few hours after receiving this from Fedex/Amazon.
First, Amazon and Fedex sent me the wrong trackng number and I called/online chatted with both companies who both basically pointed at each other for being responsible instead of coming up with a solution. Luckily, that got solved within 12 hours. Eventually the Amazon help people were good about follow up and figuring out what was wrong and resolved the issue.
HOWEVER....It got worse.
The Package arrived with the E-String Tuner knob missing. At first, I thought it fell off and was somewhere in the box. I couldn't find the tuner knob. When I looked closer at where the knob should be, I noticed that it was actually broken off. It appears that before the Schecter assembly line packaged this guitar, the knob broke off, no one noticed, packed the guitar in its box and shipped it off.
I took the Bass to a local Guitar Shop to examine the problem and to check to see if there was anything else wrong with the Bass. Luckily, there was none. Which was very surprising to me, because the packaging of the Bass was very, very, very bad. I'm surprised with all the Fedex dents in the box, that the Bass did not have cosmetic damage....it's probably internal and won't show up for a few weeks.
After the E-String Tuner was replaced, I took it home, tuned it and started playing. First, I played major and minor chords up and down the frett to check the tone. The Seymour Duncan P/J pickups combined with the maple frettboard give the bass a very distinct articulate, clear tone and does deliver what it advertises and that is vintage and modern tone in one bass. I'm going to switch strings for sure on this bass. For now, everything seems okay and I admit, I don't see this bass in a positive light at the moment.
ONE THING IS FOR SURE, I WILL NEVER ORDER ANOTHER INSTRUMENT FROM AMAZON AGAIN AND NEVER PURCHASE A SCHECTER AGAIN. Luckily, it is my first time to order an instrument online and thank God, it will be my last.
