I can't rate the ease of assembly because I purchased mine pre-assembled. However, looking at the parts, I can't imagine it would entail any great difficulty.
I am new to bass playing. This was my first bass purchase at a local music store, and I thoroughly love it. The store had several other basses in stock, including a Fender Squire, and I can't tell the difference in sound or feel. I have an ear for music, and I can usually detect even very subtle differences in sound quality. This one was a fantastic find.
If you are looking for an inexpensive bass that sounds great, I don't think you'll need to look much further than the Saga PB-10.
